REVIEW OF ALBUM PUZZLE
Kulturno medijski center Slovenije By Matej Krajnc The album was released at the end of 2017, but that, as the saying goes, does not bother the great spirit, since the promotional activity and most of the music began in 2018. Upon the release of the album, the guys released the single No big deal, and all ten songs carry some kind of conceptual approach to dealing with situations in partner relationships, as the members wrote at the release. It is interesting to see who is performing in Trium: the lead singer and rhythm guitarist is Sine Videčnik (Kladivo, konj in voda, Žabe, Sine and Dani, Brazzzz band), the main author and guitarist is Roman Nussdorfer (a founding member of the group Avtomobili) and the bass guitarist Matjaž Mikac is also known from Žabe. The trio was joined by a quartet of guests: bass guitarist Nik Lovše, drummer Gašper Obšteter, keyboard is operated by Matevž Goršič, who probably does not have to be especially mentioned (the album was also recorded in his studio), while the accompanying vocalist is Nika Kodrič; who can also be heard in the aforementioned single. Since 2016, the band has been active on the domestic scene and at some festivals (such as Pivo in cvetje at Laško), and upon the release of the album they announced a promotional and even musical march. One would be mistaken to think that the creative side of the band is a kind of "interband" sound hybrid; they gave up on the so called "typical sound" that would directly connect them to the groups in which they used to perform or are still involved with, but in principle it is a pop rock music brush that does not want to be pretentious in the way of "singing poets", it is about bringing their songs to an audience, who cares about what they are listening to, but who aren`t necessarily the club literate type. "Would you take a walk with me in the moonlight? / At the tenth hour to the mass and in the afternoon to the cinema?" sing Trium in the title song, which tells us - through distorted guitars - that it is not a kind of teenage talk about potential sympathies, but about re-discovering the mutual potentials of mature people who either have a bitter experience behind them, or, as Nussdorfer says, "interim events that (can) remain exciting". It`s about a complicated world of mutual relations, which is also (or particularly) evident in the current single, where Sine and Nika sing: "One glance is enough to crush the world, no matter how long you`ve been building it ... We have nothing to promise one another - the rules are clear. / We`ve got nothing to hide in the face of others, let alone at home" As Nussdorfer suggests and as the refrain goes, they are actors drawing on past experiences, not repeating their initial mistakes, albeit their private lives are exposed on several fronts. TRIUM are definitely worth listening to, one should catch up with their concerts and the album itself should be heard several times. Every good album deserves this (which is noteworthy as it doesn`t necessarily always happen), and judging by the joy these guys have begun their approach with, the Trium crew will surely write more than one chapter. |
